Apnio

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Apnio (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Apnio mobile application (“App”) available on iOS, Apple Watch, and Android.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

You can create an account with your email address and password, or by signing in with Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We collect the email address (and, if you choose Apple or Google, the basic profile information those services share with us) to authenticate you, enable account recovery, and sync your data across your devices.

1.2 Health and Fitness Data

With your explicit permission, the App may access:

  • Heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO2) — collected from Apple Watch via HealthKit during training sessions to provide real-time monitoring, zone analysis, and dive-log logging.
  • Workouts — the App writes completed training sessions to Apple Health as workouts so they appear alongside your other fitness data.

Health data is only accessed when you grant permission through Apple's HealthKit authorization screen. We do not sell, share, or use health data for advertising purposes.

1.3 Training and Dive Log Data

The App records the following data during your training sessions and dive log entries:

  • Training type (CO₂, O₂, Breath Hold, Dynamic, Square Breathing, Custom Tables) and discipline
  • Session duration, per-rep timing, and timestamps
  • Breath-hold times, distances, and personal records
  • Training progress and statistics
  • Dive log entries you create, including depth, discipline, and notes

1.4 Location Data

With your permission, the App uses your device's location to let you tag dive sites in your dive log. Location is only accessed while the App is in use for this purpose and is never collected in the background.

1.5 Photos, Videos, and Camera

With your permission, the App can access your camera and photo library so you can attach photos and videos to your dive log entries and profile, and save generated training cards to your photo library. If you enable the optional Cloud Backup feature (available to Apnio Pro subscribers), these photos and videos are also uploaded to our cloud storage (via Supabase) so they sync across your devices; this is off by default and only happens if you turn it on.

1.6 Microphone, Calendar, and Contacts

With your permission, the App may access:

  • Your microphone, to record audio during training sessions if you choose to.
  • Your calendar, to let you schedule apnea training sessions.
  • Your contacts, to let you share your training results with someone directly from the App.

None of this data is collected unless you actively use the corresponding feature.

1.7 Device Information

We may automatically collect basic device information such as device type and operating system version to ensure app compatibility and troubleshoot issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's functionality
  • Authenticate your account and enable cloud sync
  • Track your training progress and display statistics
  • Generate personalized AI training plans (Pro feature)
  • Sync data between your iPhone and Apple Watch
  • Improve the App and fix technical issues

3. Data Storage and Security

Your training data is stored locally on your device. If you create an account, your data — including training sessions, dive log entries, and settings — is also synced to our cloud service powered by Supabase, a secure backend platform, so it stays backed up and available if you sign in on a new device. If you enable Cloud Backup, dive log photos and videos are synced the same way.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and secure authentication.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — for user authentication and data storage. Supabase Privacy Policy
  • Apple HealthKit — for heart rate, blood oxygen, and workout data on iOS/watchOS (with your permission)
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — for processing in-app subscription payments
  • RevenueCat — for subscription management

We do not use any advertising or tracking services.

5. In-App Purchases

The App offers an optional “Apnio Pro” subscription. All payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. We do not collect or store any payment information such as credit card numbers.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data may only be shared:

  • With third-party service providers listed above, solely for operating the App
  • If required by law or legal process

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of Access — request a copy of your personal data
  • Right to Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to Restriction — request restriction of processing your data
  • Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a portable format (CSV export is available in the App)
  • Right to Object — object to processing of your personal data

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address below.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data and training history for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the App, under Profile → Delete Account — no need to contact us. Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data, including training history, dive log entries, and settings, from our servers. You can also reach us at the email address below if you have any trouble.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the App or on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
